Farm Description

The coffee is grown by the Rumukia Co-operative, a cooperative in the Nyeri region, which consists of 595 small farmers in total, of which 268 are women, making up nearly half. Although the co-operative is traditional and old, the amount of cherries it produces per year is small due to the small number of small farmers. Collectively, they process less than one container of green coffee, of which only a small amount is AA, and even less is FAQ+. Unlike its neighbour Ethiopia, which grades by the number of defective beans, Kenya grades by the size of the beans. In the grading system of AA, AB, etc., AA fetches the highest price, but bigger doesn't necessarily mean tastier, so it is also categorised as FAQ+, FAQ-, etc. Of course, there is also the TOP rating, but this is not an official local system.

이 커피는 니에리 지역의 조합인 루무키아 협동조합에서 재배한 커피로 이 조합은 총 595명의 소농으로 구성되어 있으며 그중 여성 농부는 268명으로 거의 절반 가까이를 차지합니다. 전통 있고 오래된 조합이지만 작은 소농으로 구성되어 연간 생산하는 체리의 양은 많지 않은 편입니다. 모두 합쳐서 1컨테이너가 되지 않는 생두를 가공하며 그중 AA등급, 또한 FAQ+등급은 소량에 불과합니다. 옆 나라인 에티오피아는 결점두 수에 따라 등급을 나누는 것과 달리 케냐는 생두 크기에 의해 등급을 구분합니다. AA, AB 등으로 나누어지는 등급 체계에서 AA는 가장 높은 가격을 받지만 무조건 크다고 맛있는 것은 아니기 때문에 FAQ+, FAQ- 등으로 또한번 현지에서는 분류가 됩니다. 물론 TOP 라는 등급을 사용하기도 하지만 이는 현지의 공식 체계는 아닙니다.
