BEAN STORY
This washed coffee is produced at Tagel Alemayehu's washing station in the village of Hambela Goro. It is made from cherries harvested by approximately 130 registered farmers, with only the ripest cherries selected for processing. Tagel was born and raised in Hambela and has gained experience in the coffee industry through its ups and downs. At one point, his father's large-scale milling business closed due to market collapse, but he saved money by working in accounting and cherry procurement at an export company, eventually reclaiming the facility. He then returned to his hometown and established the Goro Washing Station, working with local farmers to produce high-quality coffee. Notably, unlike typical private washing stations, he pays farmers not only an initial payment for the cherries they deliver but also a second payment upon export. This approach encourages farmers to select cherries more carefully and strengthens mutual trust.
함벨라 고로 마을에 자리한 태겔 알레마예후(Tagel Alemayehu)의 워싱스테이션에서 만든 워시드 커피입니다. 약 130명의 등록 농가가 수확한 체리 중 잘 익은 체리만 골라 가공했습니다.태겔은 함벨라에서 나고 자랐으며, 커피 산업의 부침 속에서 경험을 쌓았습니다. 한때 부친이 운영하던 대형 밀링 사업이 시장 붕괴로 문을 닫았지만, 그는 수출업체에서 회계와 체리 수매 일을 하며 자금을 모아 결국 그 시설을 다시 되찾았습니다. 이후 고향으로 돌아와 고로 워싱스테이션을 세우고, 지역 농가와 함께 품질 높은 커피를 생산하고 있습니다.특히 그는 일반적인 민간 워싱스테이션과 달리, 체리를 납품한 농가에 1차 대금 외에도 수출 시 2차 대금을 지급합니다. 이 방식은 농가가 더 정성껏 체리를 선별하도록 유도하고, 서로 간의 신뢰를 두텁게 합니다.
COMMENT
From the first sip, the subtle aroma of bergamot and floral notes linger, and a refreshing sweetness pleasantly permeates the palate. The finish leaves a clear and clean aftertaste.
